As World Press Freedom Day approaches on May 3, we are at a turning point, with press freedom in rapid decline, and journalists around the world targeted for doing their jobs. For journalists reporting from the front lines in Ukraine, the physical threat has never been greater. Russian first-person-view drones are increasingly targeting identified journalists. The notebook with “Press Freedom is Your Freedom” is a part of our No News is Bad News collection. Its message is clear: Independent journalism is under threat — and without it, accountability disappears, and democracy is in danger.
From April 21 through May 5, we are dedicating all profits from this collection to purchasing 20 drone detectors (costing around $10 000) for the Institute of Mass Information (IMI), to help protect independent regional journalists reporting from the front lines.
